The North Central Parish League would like to
take this opportunity to recognize two individuals for the contributions
they have made to grammar school basketball throughout their many years of
service. Most coaches move on
when their children graduate, while other coaches may stay around for a few
extra years to make sure the program stays strong, but the following two
individuals have been staples of their programs for the past twenty plus
years. Although these two people
have won various championships and hundreds of games throughout the years,
the true measure of their impact cannot be measured by wins and losses, but
by the positive influence they have had on the young men and woman they have
worked with.
We would first like to honor Pete Salmon from St. Hilary.
Pete has coached various boy’s and girl’s teams throughout his
coaching career while also serving as athletic director for many years.
Pete has exemplified how to do things with class, style and in a
sportsmanlike way, and he has passed that on to the various young men and
women he has worked with. The
NCPL has been honored to have Pete be associated with it throughout his many
years of service, and we look forward to seeing him around for many years to
come.
We would also like to honor Gary Galati from St. Viator.
Gary
has coached a combination of the 7th and 8th grade
boy’s teams at St. Viator for many years.
While
Gary
’s teams have traditionally been among the league leaders year in and year
out, he has also been able to instill a sense of sportsmanship and respect
into his players.
Gary
’s commitment to his players, and their development, both on and off the
court is unquestionable. We look
forward to many more years of watching
Gary
pace the sideline.
