JIM KANE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

The North Central Parish League would like to announce the formation of the Jim Kane Sportsmanship Award. To honor the memory of Jim Kane, who passed away in October, the North Central Parish League has established a sportsmanship award in Coach Kane’s name that will be presented to the school that displays the best sportsmanship throughout the season. The award will be decided upon by the commissioners of the league, with input from various coaches, athletic directors, officials, and spectators. The school, the combination of boy’s and girl’s teams, which is chosen to have displayed the best sportsmanship throughout the season, will be presented with the Jim Kane Sportsmanship Award on the day of the All-Star games at the conclusion of the season.

Jim Kane was the longtime coach of St. Clement’s 7th and 8th grade boy’s teams. Coach Kane’s teams, while always being very competitive, conducted themselves with the class and style of their highly respected coach. Jim Kane, through his coaching, had a positive influence on many young people’s lives and, therefore, he will be missed both on and off the court.

This year the 2005 Jim Kane Sportsmanship award was presented to Queen of All Saints.
