ALL-STAR SATURDAY

At St. Viator

Welcome to the NCPL All-Star Saturday Skill Competitions.  There are three skill competitions in which the all-stars will compete; a three-point shootout, a hot shot competition and an obstacle course.

THREE-POINT SHOOTOUT

Each contestant will have 45 seconds to shoot 5 balls from each of the 3 racks.  Each rack has four brown balls, worth 1 point each, and one multicolored ball, worth 2 points each. The multicolored ball has to be the last ball shot per rack.  In the case of a tie, each contestant will receive 30 seconds to shoot as many balls as possible from the various racks.  The top 3 scoring contestants from the first round will advance to the finals.

 HOT SHOT COMPETITION

Each contestant will have 45 seconds to shoot from the designated spots on the floor.  The points for each spot are as follows:  1 point for lay-ups, 2 points for the short jump shot, 3 points for the shot at the free throw line, 4 points for the corner jump shot, and 5 points for the three-pointer,  The contestants are limited to making only 2 lay-ups.  In case of a tie, each contestant will receive 30 seconds to shoot from the various spots. The top 3 scoring contestants from the first round will advance to the finals.

TIMED OBSTACLE COURSE

Each contestant will begin the event by attempting a free throw and will then pick up the ball situated on the block.  The contestant will then dribble through the cones and then speed dribble to the other end of the court for a lay-up.  The contestant will then defensive slide from cone to cone and then run to the basketball on the rack for a jump shot from the wing.  The timing will begin upon the release of the ball from shooter’s hand at the free throw line and end once the shooter releases the ball for their last jump shot.  There will be a three second penalty accessed for each obstacle missed.  In the case of a tie, each contestant will perform the entire course again.  The 3 contestants with the fastest times in the first round will advance to the finals.

Please make sure to attend Monday’s and Tuesday’s All-Star games where each of the first place finishers from today’s competitions will be honored.
